Application Library

The Application Library is where you will tell Pckgr which applications you would like managed. This page shows how to navigate this library and locate the applications you wish to deploy.

The Application Library is where you manage the applications Pckgr deploys and maintains through to your Intune tenant/s. It provides tools for browsing, filtering, deploying, and reviewing the status of Windows and macOS applications across all connected tenants.

Tenant Selection

Use the dropdown menu at the top of the page to switch between connected tenants. This determines which applications are shown and where any deployments will occur. For Managed Service Providers, this allows seamless navigation between different client environments.

Search, Filters, and Sorting

The top section of the Application Library contains tools to search and organize your application list:

  • Search Bar: Search for applications by name.

  • Platform Filters:

    • Windows: Filters the list to show only Windows applications.

    • macOS: Filters the list to show only macOS applications.

  • Sort Options:

    • A to Z: Sort applications alphabetically by name.

    • Z to A: Sort in reverse alphabetical order.

    • Last Modified: Sort by most recently modified.

    • Last Created: Sort by the date the application was added to the library.

These filters help users efficiently manage application catalogs, especially in environments with many deployments or multiple operating systems.

Adding a New Application

The Add New App button lets you browse Pckgr’s current application library, which is hosted in our Private Repository.

Pckgr originally offered applications hosted in the public Winget repository. Over time, we transitioned to hosting applications ourselves for increased reliability and reduced application downtime. While Pckgr no longer depend on Winget for hosting, it is still leveraged for version checks and security validation.

Our library of applications is constantly growing, based on our users' requests. If the application you need is not listed, you can request it through the Request an Application page, available from the Pckgr Dashboard. For more information, visit the Request an Application documentation.

At the top of the Add New App window, a dropdown allows users to switch between:

  • Windows Repository: Win32 apps packaged and hosted by Pckgr.

  • Mac Repository: macOS apps deployed via Installomator and Intune shell scripts.

For more detail, visit the Private Repository and macOS documentation.

Once an application is selected from the appropriate repository, it can be added to your tenant's Application Library, where it becomes available for deployment and lifecycle management.

The Detect Applications feature scans your Intune environment to identify which existing apps can be managed by Pckgr, allowing you to quickly onboard them to automated updates. Learn more about detecting applications from Intune with Pckgr

Application Three-dot Menu

Each application has a three-dot menu offering several management options:

  • Deployment: Opens a configuration panel to set deployment settings and initiate deployment.

  • View in Intune: Links directly to the application page in the Microsoft Intune Admin Center.

  • Redeploy: Available when an application's status is 'Failed', and pushes the application to Intune again. Useful for correcting failed installations or refreshing deployment settings.

  • Update: Triggers an on-demand update if automatic updates are disabled and a new version is available for deployment.

  • Delete: Allows removal from Pckgr, from Intune, or from both.

Application Status

The status of each application is shown within the Application Library, indicating its current deployment state:

  • Awaiting Deployment: Application is added but not yet deployed; click 'Deployment' to select settings and deploy.

  • Success: Application has been deployed and verified; Application is now being managed by Pckgr.

  • Failed: A deployment error occurred; Select redeploy to try again, then reach out to Support.

  • Manual Update Required: Automatic updates are disabled, and an update is waiting; select 'Update' to push the new version for deployment.

  • Investigating Issue: If there is a known issue with an application, Pckgr will mark the status of the app to let users know it is being investigated.
